YirajeTango is a Tango dance school based in Stirling, Glasgow and it is currently building a community oriented project in Edinburgh. We worked intensively in the Central Belt of Scotland since 2013, in the UK since 2004, and occasionally in Europe mainland. The school was funded by Ariel Sanchez, a native tango dancer from Argentinean, a sociologist born in Buenos Aires and raised in Cordoba.
Tango is a beautiful dance that has nothing to do with rationality and reason, but everything to do with feelings. That is why our teaching methodology focuses on creative and communicative aspects of tango. Teaching methodology of Yiraje Tango has been carefully designed throughout 15 years of experience. Students learn tango unrelated to dance levels or gender roles. The focus is on the individual dance development, the couple, and finally the couple within the social dance environment. The dancer’s identity at the individual, couple, or social level is systematically protected and nurtured. We mix emotions with dance expression that are crucial factors in the learning process of tango dance.
