While ‘Contemporary’ or ‘Expressive’ Blues has far more in common with new Dance Styles like Modern Jive/Smooth, the closer bond between original style Blues Dancing and Tango goes back for over a century...
The two forms are very different in movement vocabulary, aesthetic and execution, but have a surprising similarity in core Technique. This gives dancers from either style a serious advantage when experimenting with crossing to the 'other side' or creating their own unique Fusion Style… and this Workshop shows you how!
Suitable for experienced Tango Dancers who want to apply existing skills to try something new, experienced Blues Dancers who want a real challenge or anyone who attended our April 17th Workshop - https://www.facebook.com/events/1731760150441183/ - and is ready to take it to the next level!!
Mandy and Basil – the Island Dance Wizards – have over 40 years of full time professional teaching experience between them. They teach in a variety of social partner styles, but specialise in Tango, Blues and Tango/Blues Fusion, and were the first UK teaching couple to offer dancers a choice of weekly lessons in all of these styles concurrently. They strongly believe that close connection lies at the heart and soul of partner dancing, but that this connection itself relies on a greater mutual understanding of technique – this principle underlies all of their Dance Teaching.
