Previous Description
BATSfest, the spring weekend Argentine tango festival, just outside Bridport, continues and builds on Tango Bridport & Weymouth’s earlier popular and successful Argentine tango events. We’re very pleased to have **Veronica Toumanova** and **Benjamin Solano** join us once again to lead a course of progressive format workshops focusing on tango technique and on the complementary roles of follower and leader. Both Veronica and Benjamin are very highly regarded as Argentine tango teachers – check out our website what people say about them.
But it’s not just a weekend festival of workshops, practíca time and the opportunity of private tuition, important though all those are. The opening evening begins with a stylish, exciting tango theatre entertainment, **Smoke & Mirrors**, featuring the outstanding dancers **Ivan Arandia** and **Paula Duarte**, and **Martín Espindola** and **Emma Lucia Reyes**, with Argentine tango music by the popular **Orquesta La Poderosa Tango**. A milonga follows as the show finishes and runs till midnight. On the Saturday morning Veronica will be signing her recently published book of essays on Argentine tango, *Why Tango* – copies will be available in the hall for you to buy. Later on Saturday there’s what promises to be a fascinating lecture by Veronica, *Tango, from theory to practice.* There’s the Saturday Grand Milonga Ball running till 2.00am and featuring more live Argentine tango music from Orquesta La Poderosa Tango and then the festival finishes on Sunday with yet another evening milonga.
And to help you deal with any tiredness, stiffness or concerns you may develop and to bring additional specialist help for posture and core stability we'll have two specialist therapists in attendance one offering sessions of zero balancing bodywork therapy and the other sessions of Swedish/Russian massage.
There's more information on Smoke & Mirrors on the separate event listing here and there's detail on the complete festival, including the theatre show, on our website.
**Earlybird booking** for the festival will save you 20% but closes at the end of March. Because there's also generous cancellation options you can book now without risk to join all the others coming along - don't lose out by waiting!Revised Description
