    What is the Orquesta Típica made of?

    How many elements and layers of information are playing simultaneously? What am I really listening to? And more importantly… what am I not hearing? When we listen to music—regardless of the genre—we are receiving and processing an enormous amount of information.

    In tango, the stylistic variations are vast, and each iconic orchestra is characterized by using a significant variety of resources and patterns that are not always easy to hear and understand. Achieving a personal style is an art. Understanding it is also an art.

    For the most part, both dancers and the general public fail to detect and understand the musical and stylistic elements of the mechanism of an Orquesta Típica.

    These elements are part of the language used by all tango orchestras, so it is important to be able to recognize them and eventually reproduce them.

    This lecture focuses on the functioning of that extraordinary mechanism that is the Orquesta Típica, covering all the elements and patterns that define the orchestral styles of tango through an in-depth and exhaustive study. Each analyzed element is illustrated with specific musical excerpts taken from historical recordings.

    Oriented towards both musicians and dancers, as well as the general public, this seminar is a journey to the heart of the orchestras from an original perspective, where the secrets of the styles are revealed in clear and accessible language for everyone.

    NOTE: You do not have to be a dancer to attend. You will benefit greatly from this amazing LECTURE and leave feeling totally enlightened in all main aspects of Tango music! For dancers there will be 90 minutes Practica AFTER the workshop.
