ITS PARTY TIME!!! Come and help us celebrate our 10th anniversary of TEA AND TANGO at Croft Village Memorial Hall with our wonderful Argentine Tango Tea Dance starting at 2pm on Sunday 12th MAY 2024. Well, it’s been a wonderful 10 years of tango at Tea and Tango!! This group was created for Argentine Tango Dancers in the North West of England, but, believe me, they have travelled from around the globe to join us: from Prague, Buenos Aires, the Netherlands, Spain, Scotland and Wales - some less than 15 mins away, some 2 to 3 hours away, but ALL to have a good time at tango.
We started with a compliment of 25 dancers who bravely decided to attend our first event, and from there we’ve gone from strength to strength. We’ve used 3 different venues -Croft and Grappenhall in Warrington and Eccles in Manchester, and provided traditional tango music on Saturdays and Sundays at tea dances and milongas, Fab Fridays with 50/50 alternative and traditional tango music, and intense tango workshops and weekends – all with brilliant international teachers. And in September we will be offering a couple of workshops especially for those who have never done tango at all, to try to increase the number of dancers embracing the world’s finest dance.
We’ve been lucky to attract a variety of marvellous tango DJs – and not resting on our laurels have also embraced live music (due next month) from renowned fabulous Bandoneon Maestro Orlando Dibelo and fanatic Bandoneonista Ruth Rozelaar.
Our highlight was 76 dancers attending our Sunday tea dance prior to lockdown in 2020, and when we eventually came back 6 months later we were gratified to have nearly 40 turn up dance, which was quite an achievement considering the terrible toll that Covid-19 had placed upon the country and the world itself.
Those regular attenders will remember my terrible attempts at photography in the early years – Facebook and I did not mesh well – but early attempts at least recorded some of our dancers, and it’s been lovely seeing how much everyone’s dancing has improved, year on year.
Our regular venue in Croft, Warrington is just off the A580 East Lancashire Road and close to the M62 and M6. This charming venue has a lovely wooden dance floor, plenty of seating and lots of free on-site parking. There is a professional sound system and our wonderful DJs use it to provide fantastic tango tandas and great cortinas.

STILL ONLY £12 CASH per person. Excellent wooden floor, sound system, and large free car park. Close to M6 J22 and M62 J10, easy access from Manchester or Liverpool via the A580 East Lancs Road. Hand sanitiser is available around the room. As usual, it will be a very social event with excellent company, and there will be all levels of tango folk there at different levels of the tango journey.
